We’re jumping ahead in time a bit, but we wanted to share with you a guest post that Calina has written for Threads of Peru, the not-for-profit that she has been volunteering with here in Cusco, Peru. Threads of Peru helps remote indigenous communities in the Sacred Valley with projects that provide nutritional support, adult education, leadership workshops and more. The organization’s main initiative is to assist in the preservation of ancient weaving and dying techniques that are slowly being lost with the passage of time. They support this ancient trade by making weavings from these villages available for sale online, and returning profits to the communities so that the weavers benefit fairly from their labours.

Read Calina’s post about her visit to these remote villages, and if you’re interested in learning more check out the Threads of Peru website, or their online store.
